E4H Clinical Director, Dr Anne Connolly awarded MBE

Dr Anne Connolly has been awarded an MBE for her services to primary care women’s health in Bradford and the UK in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. E4H would like to congratulate Anne on the recognition of all the work she does for women across the UK, she is incredibly deserving of this award.

Anne is Clinical Director of E4H, a leading medical education agency which creates tailored remote solutions for healthcare professionals and the pharmaceutical industry. Anne joined the company in 2019 to drive forward clinical information and support medical education in the UK and globally. She has supported the company in its growth to deliver quality medical education to healthcare professionals around the world.

Anne’s history of supporting women’s health speaks for itself. She spent two years at a mission hospital in rural Zimbabwe, before returning to General Practice in inner-city Bradford in 1990. She provides care for under-served communities in the area including asylum seekers, refugees, homeless people and sex workers. She is a GP with a Special Interest in Gynaecology, accredited as a hysteroscopist, colposcopist and Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH) trainer.

Anne has been involved with commissioning since 2006 and is a Bradford City Clinical Commissioning Group Clinical Board Member with a remit for maternity, women’s, children and young people’s healthcare. She is also Royal College of General Practice Clinical Champion for Women’s Health and previously Vice President, Membership at the FSRH.

Anne is a Founding Member and Chair of the Primary Care Women’s Health Forum. The PCWHF is a community interest company and membership organisation for primary care clinicians with an interest in women’s health. Through her work with the PCWHF, Anne has developed her passion for improving the delivery of women’s healthcare through education and sharing of best practice.

The PCWHF carries out activities that benefit the community of all interested practitioners on women’s health issues. Its Board members produce free resourcesCPD events, eLearning and masterclasses, Her Life Her Health a quarterly publication and have a public-facing menopause campaign, Rock My Menopause. Under Anne’s leadership the PCWHF strives to improve health services and patient experience for women.

Speaking about her Award, Dr Anne Connolly MBE said: “I am blown away by this honour it was such a wonderful surprise. Receiving an MBE for services to women’s health is fantastic recognition for the health and wellbeing of women at the highest level. I strive for women’s health to receive parity of esteem and for the inequalities women face to be recognised. This Award is for every woman and every clinician focused on promoting women’s health. It’s not really about me, it’s about us all and the rights of women.”

E4H Managing Director and Director of the PCWHF, Karl Hamer congratulated Anne on her much-deserved MBE, he said: “I have known Anne for many years now and am delighted to have such a hard-working and passionate advocate for women’s health and improving medical education as part of our team. At E4H we focus on improving patient outcomes through quality medical education across many therapy areas. The clinical expertise Anne brings across health, commissioning and service redesign is invaluable and adds value to our work across the business. Congratulations Anne, we’re very proud!”
