Pivoting in 2020
In 2020, the team took a very difficult decision to move the Pf Awards from an in-person event to a live stream. Held in March both the Assessment Day and Awards Dinner were facing an escalating situation with the coronavirus pandemic.
The E4H team quickly developed a successful hybrid model for the Assessment Day to enable online and in person assessments to take place.
As the risks continued to increase the decision was taken to move the Awards Dinner online with just 24 hours to go. The Digital, Production and Technical teams collaborated to ensure that a live stream could be held from the London venue with Melanie Hamer of Pf Awards hosting alongside Martin Bayfield.
The Marketing Team developed clear communications for all stakeholders, ensuring all attendees were fully aware of the cancellation and the 600 guests, sponsors and candidates were invited to join the event online.
Melanie commented: “Taking the difficult decision to cancel the Pf Awards 2020 live event was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. The Pf Awards are so special to me and it wasn’t a decision I took lightly. With the escalating situation with the coronavirus and it being declared a pandemic, I didn’t want our 600 guests to put themselves at risk by travelling to London and attending the event.
“I was delighted with the success of the Pf Award 2020 Live Stream. It was wonderful to see the social media engagement from around the UK, watch people’s reactions and give the winners their chance to celebrate.”
